I recently started a new job in downtown St. Paul. As I’m spending more time in the Silver City, I’m starting to like it more. Sure, downtown is eerily quiet on weekend nights and I still get lost a lot, but I dig it. The streets are clean, there’s a little farmers market outside the door of the restaurant, and sometimes downtown smells like maple syrup. I don’t know how much quainter downtown can get.
However, I’ve noticed random coffee mugs scattered around. This one was spotted on Kellogg St, on a bridge above 35E. But this is not the only one. I’ve seen coffee mugs in places where coffee mugs usually aren’t on five separate occasions, on electrical boxes, near fences, etc.
Why is it that St. Paul attracts so many misplaced coffee mugs? Do they make their way across the river and never leave, or is it some sort of public mug-share that I’m unaware of?
